In Raleigh Tuesday night, the Carolina Hurricanes posted three goals in the opening frame and went to a 5-3 win over the Vancouver Canucks.
The Canes are 4-0-1 on the season.
“It’s fun, right? High scoring games, a bunch of young guys in here keeping it young too,” said Canes’ rookie Warren Foegele. “The group’s really good and that’s what you want to see.”
Brett Pesce, Sebastian Aho, Jordan Staal, Andrei Svechnikov, and Foegele all scored for the Canes.
Curtis McElhinney made 22 saves to pick up the win.
“It was a little loose at times, but as a goalie you’re just trying to make that big save when the team needs it,” McElhinney said. “But the run support has definitely been there so far for me.”
Sven Baertschi scored twice for the Canucks and Bo Horvat had a single marker in the loss.
“I like how we played, got some pucks behind their defense,” Canucks coach Travis Green said. “I think it was unfortunate that we came out of the [first] period with the score the way it was.”

Jacob Markstrom made 28 saves to take the loss.
“I like that [Baertschi] scored a couple goals. I like that he played with a little more compete in his game. We talked to our team about that. We wanted to see a more competitive group come out tonight for 60 minutes, and I thought we took a step in the right direction,” Green said after the game.
