Home teams the favourites in EIHL Sunday matches

We delved back through the Elite League history books to uncover the stories behind Sunday’s matchups:

The Steelers have an impressive home record against the Devils, winning over 62% of their league meetings in Sheffield. Out of 70 games, the Steelers have 44 wins to Cardiff’s 25, with one ending in a tie. On average, Sheffield score three goals per game against the Welsh side, while the Devils average around 2.5.

The Giants must win at home in the Challenge Cup to finish top of Group B, and history is on their side. Despite being 0-3 against Dundee this season, Belfast have won 13 of the 17 Cup meetings between the teams.

Coventry will be confident going into their home clash with Fife, having won almost 73% of their league meetings. The Blaze have 24 wins from 33 games, while Fife have left the Skydome victorious just nine times since joining the EIHL. The average scoreline between the sides is 4-2 in Coventry’s favour, and they’ve never faced each other in the Cup or Playoffs.

Few matchups in the EIHL are as one-sided as when Guildford host Glasgow, according to recent meetings. Guildford have won 17 of 19 home league games against Glasgow, with the Clan managing just two victories at the Spectrum. The Flames typically outscore their visitors by two goals on average, and have also triumphed both times the fixture has gone beyond 60 minutes.
