SAN JOSE, Calif. – Tyler Sikura posted his 10th goal of the season halfway through the second period and Tanner Kero recorded a pair of tallies to help power the Rockford IceHogs to a 4-2 win over the San Jose Barracuda at SAP Center Friday night.
Rockford’s win stretched its point streak to four straight games.
Sikura skated down the wing on a 2-on-1, fired a shot off of netminder Troy Grosenick’s mask and deposited his own rebound into the back of the net to put Rockford up 2-1 at 9:10 of the middle frame. Sikura’s tally was his seventh in his last nine games, and he now leads the AHL in goals since Dec. 28th.
Matheson Iacopelli also scored in the contest, putting the visitors ahead just over five minutes into the game with a quick wrist shot that surprised Grosenick.
The scoreline remained 1-0 for nearly 20 exact minutes of game time before San Jose knotted the score with a Julius Bergman marker. After Sikura put the Hogs back in front, Tanner Kero scored his first goal of the game on a rebound to double Rockford’s advantage.
Rudolfs Balcers pulled the Barracuda within a goal in the third period, but Kero doubled his goal total with an insurance empty-net tally to seal the win.
California native Collin Delia stopped 23 of 25 pucks to earn his third straight win, while Grosenick stopped 38 for San Jose.
