TEMPE, AZ – Amid the problems of the last week or so, the Central Hockey League announced some good news, elevating one of its own to the position of Director of Operations. Bob Hoffman, Director of Communications for the CHL was appointed to the new post and will assume those duties immediately. In addition, he will retain the responsibilities of the communications position.
Hoffman is entering his third year with the CHL and has been an integral component of the CHL’s front office efforts to marshal the franchises. Sometimes not an easy task.
“Bob has been a great asset to the League Office these past two seasons, as well as working with many teams over the years, and we are proud and excited to increase his role within the CHL,” League Commissioner Duane Lewis said. “His vast experiences in all aspects of our business make for a perfect transition in to these new responsibilities to assist our member teams.”
Hoffman takes on the role as the league is dealing with the loss of two teams going dark for the coming season and a third ceasing operations in an apparent move to the American Hockey League.
But the league is also welcoming two new teams in Allen, Texas and Independence, Missouri.
“Heading into the new season, the CHL is excited to launch two new franchises with the Allen Americans and the Missouri Mavericks,” said Hoffman.
The Americans and Mavericks give the circuit 15 teams for the coming season. Scheduling has been an issue with the sudden departure of the Blazers in Oklahoma City.
“We hope to continue to build the league through its brand as the ‘Center of Hockey’ and continue to give a great, and affordable, entertainment option to fans in all of our markets,” added Hoffman.
