BASINGSTOKE UK: The Bison continue to close the gap on the top three in the South One, after another four point weekend.
This Saturday the Herd will be looking to extend their home winning streak to eight games, but standing in their way is the last team to win in Basingstoke, the current leaders the Peterborough Phantoms.
Last weekend, the Bison made it seven on the spin in their own barn with a 5-1 win over Streatham.
This despite the visitors leading at the first break from a goal from Adam Wood, his third in as many games against the Herd.
Just 36 seconds in the middle session, Michal Klejna who enjoyed a seven point weekend leveled the game.
He then picked up a helper on the game winner scored by defenseman Adam Jones.
Three more unanswered goals in the final period followed fFrom Tom Ralph, Richard Bordowski and Klejna to complete the win.
The Bison then made it back-to-back 5-1 wins as they won at Invicta by the same scoreline.
This time the Herd were quickly out of the blocks Klejna scored after 36 seconds and Bordowski added a second by the fifth minute.
Goals from Klejna and Ashley Tait made it 4-0, before Callum Best scored on Invicta’s only powerplay of the night.
It was left to Ralph to wrap up the scoring against his former club.
“I think against Streatham we grew into the game. I think our depth showed and I thought Paul Petts and Oscar Evans had good games for us. In Invicta we showed we had learnt from the MK loss the week before and being two up inside five minutes made out job that much easier,” said Bison player/coach Ashley Tait
For the Bison’s clash with Peterborough, only suspended Liam Morris is missing and Tait is expecting another tight game, but knows his side have to start winning these games if they to challenge for the title.
On Sunday night, the Herd have a tricky trip to Streatham.
