TELFORD, UK – Joe Henry has become the latest signing for Telford Tigers as they prepare for their return to the EPL in the Autumn. 21 year old Henry joins the Tigers after 5 years with the Elite League champions, Coventry Blaze
Long regarded as a major prospect, Joe Henry has represented Great Britain at Under 20s level and England at lower age groups throughout his development.
His coach at Telford Tigers will be a familiar face, having laced up his boots alongside Tom Watkins in the Elite League dressing room of the Coventry Blaze for the past 5 years.
Joining the Blaze as their first apprentice, learning the workings of the club in the back room as well as on the ice, Henry has always had an astonishing level of skill, shown by his 10 goals in just 5 games in the 3rd tier ENL1 but has always been let down by his lack of size in the Elite League.
With the ice time he requires to develop further, the 21 year old Solihull native is likely to be an impact player at EPL level. Prohockeynews compared Henry to Telford native Tom Carlon, who put up similar numbers in the Elite League at a similar age and has since averaged over a point a game in the EPL with Bracknell Bees, Telford Tigers and Peterborough Phantoms.
Henry joins fellow Coventry prospect Jack Watkins, brother of coach Tom Watkins, at a Telford side that is looking like a promising side as they return to the league following a one year hiatus. Contact the author Phil.Andrews@Prohockeynews.com
