HENDERSON, Nev. – The Henderson Silver Knights (30-28-4-1) came up victorious over the Stockton Heat (43-13-4-2) with a final score of 4-2.
Late in the first period Jakob Pelletier opened the scoring for the Heat, when his shot during a power play found the back of the net. Only a short time later, the Silver Knights evened the score when Gage Quinney scored against Dustin Wolf in the Stockton net. Wolf was unable to hold onto the rebound and was pulled out of the center of the net, when Quinney’s wrister went under the goalie’s blocker-side. The teams were tied at the end of twenty minutes. Stockton was held to only four shots on net for the period, versus 17 for Henderson.
A pair of goals off the stick of Ben Jones, at 5:19 and again at 19:05, would put the Silver Knights ahead 3-1. Despite Stockton increasing their shots on net to 14 for the period, they could not solve Isaiah Seville in the net.
The Silver Knights Brendan Brisson took a pass across the crease from Pavel Dorofeyev and beat Wolf glove side to extend their lead 4-1 midway through the period. During a penalty play, Stockton’s Justin Kirkland found a loose puck in their offensive zone and fired it past Saville to close the gap, 4-2.
Wolf was pulled with just over a minute remaining in favor of an extra skater, but Stockton was not able to capitalize. Henderson gets the 4-2 win at the Dollar Loan Center before 5,036 fans.
