Tulsa, OK – Iowa Heartlanders forward Liam Coughlin scored the go-ahead goal with 12 minutes to go and the Heartlanders defeated the Tulsa Oilers, 3-2, Friday at the BOK Center.
On the game-winning goal, Coughlin broke into over the line with Vincent de Mey. After taking a feed from de Mey to the left circle, Coughlin sniped it short side and it whizzed by Gage Alexander’s arm pit (loss, 34 saves) for Coughlin’s fourth of the season.
Drew DeRidder blocked 24 shots for his second straight win.
Iowa allowed the opening goal, but went to work and erased the deficit 23 seconds later. At 5:45 of the first, Nick Campoli wristed it through traffic low for his fifth of the season, assisted by Anthony Firriolo and Justin Michaelian.
With 1:41 to go in the first, Brett Budgell found a hopping puck and swept it in for his sixth of the ECHL to give Iowa the lead, 2-1, assisted by Firriolo and Jake Durflinger.
Tulsa tied it at two with a redirection by Alec Butcher in the final minute of the second period.
