A healthy Colorado Avalanche squad may be the most fearful words in the NHL right now.
On Thursday night, Gabriel Landeskog returned to the Avs lineup and promptly scored in a 3-2 win for the Avs over their host, Montreal Canadiens.
“He looked so good tonight,” Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon said. “It’s awesome to have him back, and it adds to our depth. We didn’t have our absolute best tonight, but we’re so deep and so talented that we got the win.”
Pavel Francouz made 38 saves to get the win as the Avs built a 3-0 lead and then had to hold off the Habs for the win.
“That’s [Francouz], we know how good he is,” Landeskog said. “I don’t think the rest of the League does, but we’re confident in him, and ultimately we would like to make it easier on our goalies.”
Matt Calvert and Ryan Graves also scored for Colorado.
“It’s a special building, and it felt even better with the crowd, and I’m really happy we could pick up the win here,” Francouz said.
Brendan Gallagher and Nick Cousins scored for the Canadiens who could not find a way to string two wins together.
“We’ve got to get some points on the board,” Cousins said. “It’s not good enough here, especially at home. You’ve got to take advantage of the home games.”

Cayden Primeau made 32 saves for the Canadiens in his NHL debut.
“That top line (Joonas Donskoi, MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen) is really fast,” Primeau said. “I mean their whole team is really fast, but they’ve definitely got some fast guys up front. That’s what I felt was the biggest adjustment.”
