In Chicago Monday night, the Blackhawks made quick work of the Anaheim Ducks in a 7-3 win.
The Hawks scored four straights goals before the Ducks found the back of the net and
by then it was too late in the game.
Alex DeBrincat picked up his fist NHL hat trick in the win.
“It was nice,” DeBrincat said. “Pucks were bouncing my way today, and it’s cool to get that over with.”
Chicago has turned their season around and are 4-0-1 over the last five games.
Nick Schmaltz, Patrick Sharp, Brandon Saad, and Artem Anisimov also scored for Chicago.
“We allowed them to play their give-and-go game,” Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle said. “We really didn’t get involved in the hockey game physically at all. And they just moved the puck around us, and we got frustrated.”
Sharp ended a 16-game drought with his goal.
“Seems like the last four or five games I’ve had a prime chance like that and either hit the post or missed my shot or the goalie made a good save,” Sharp said. “So just tried to keep the thoughts together and not get too upset about it. … It was nice it finally went in.”
Corey Crawford made 25 to get the win.
“It was nice to see some balanced scoring tonight. You hear Joel talk a lot about four-line depth and rolling six (defensemen), everybody contributing, tonight we had that. It doesn’t get any easier going into a tough back-to-back,” Sharp said of the win and the upcoming brace of games with the Nashville Predators.
Chris Wagner scored twice for Anaheim and Jakob Silverberg had a single marker for the Ducks.
“When you’re down three, I think, 10 minutes in, it’s obviously not ideal. So, we just gotta take a look at it, and, I don’t know, we just need to start on time. We talked about it, and keep talking about it until the cows come home, but it doesn’t matter unless we do it,” Wagner said after another dismal loss.

John Gibson got the start for the Ducks but was given the hook in the second period after making 18 saves and yielding four goals.
“When you’re down three, I think, 10 minutes in, it’s obviously not ideal. So, we just gotta take a look at it, and, I don’t know, we just need to start on time. We talked about it, and keep talking about it until the cows come home, but it doesn’t matter unless we do it.” Wagner said after the loss.
Ryan Miller mopped up and made 10 saves in relief.
