Hamilton streak reaches three

STONEY CREEK—Hamilton Steelhawks ran their winning streak in the Allan Cup Hockey league action to three games as they edged the Stoney Creek Generals 5-4 tonight in the Gateway Ice Centre.

It was their second win of the weekend.  Friday night they downed the Whitby Dunlops 7-5 in Hamilton’s Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena.

Hamilton’s three-game winning streak has propelled the Steelhawks into a share of second place with the Dunlops.  However, the Steelhawks got the nod for second by virtue of the fact that they had one fewer loss than Whitby.

Hamilton has two games left to play on the season.  Friday, February 15th they entertain the Dundas Real McCoys in the Dave Andreychuk Arena at 7:30 p.m. On Family Day, Monday, February 18th they take on the Whitby Dunlops at home at 2 p.m.

This evening, Tyler Woodisse led the Steelhawks with a goal and two assists, while Matt Ruberto, Josh Ranalli, Taylor Carnevale, and Cam Sault added single goals.  Bryan Cameron set up three of the Hamilton goals.

Stoney Creek replied with single goals by Chris Hulit, Martin Lee, Chris Campoli, and Justin Donati.  Rob Hisey assisted on two of the Generals goals.

Friday night, the ‘Hawks got two goals and assist from Paul Zanette and two more from Andre Deveaux.  Mike Ruberto, Cameron and Justin DiBenedetto added single goals while Stephon Thorne added two assists.  The Dunlops got single goals from Matt Baxter, Tyler Hore, Brett McConnachie, Kevin George, and Cody Thornton.  Chris Porter and Darren Doherty assisted on two goals each.
