DES MOINES, Iowa – The Iowa Wild (15-28-1-1, 32 points) were defeated by the Hamilton Bulldogs (21-17-6-0, 48 points) 2-1 in front of a season-high 8,702 fans on Friday night at Wells Fargo Arena. Forward T.J. Hensick scored twice in the third period, helping Hamilton erase a 1-0 deficit and take the lead with three minutes remaining in regulation. Hamilton goalie Mike Condon (14-9-3) took care of the rest, making 37 saves on 38 shots for the road win. Despite stopping 27 of 29 shots, Iowa goalie Darcy Kuemper (0-2-0) recorded the loss. Rookie defenseman Guillaume Gelinas scored the Wild’s lone goal. Iowa finishes a three-game home stand at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.
After two scoreless periods, rookie defenseman Guillaume Gelinas scored on the power play at the 8:23 mark of the third. Gelinas fired a one-timer past Hamilton goalie Mike Condon for his first goal of the season. Rookie defenseman Brad Richard and forward Marc Hagel assisted Gelinas on the play for the 1-0 Iowa lead. The Bulldogs drew even when forward T.J. Hensick fired a wrist shot at 13:00 of the period to score on power play. Hensick’s 11th goal this year was set up by forwards Charles Hudon and Sven Andrighetto, tying the game 1-1. Hensick scored his second goal of the night 16:58 into the period. Hensick tipped the puck in for his 12th goal of the season. Defenseman Darren Dietz and forward Drayson Bowman assisted Hensick for the 2-1 final.
