Halak, Bruins shut out Canadiens, 4-0

In Montreal, Jaroslav Halak made 22 saves and four different skaters struck for the Boston Bruins  in a 4-0 win over the Canadiens.

For Halak, it was his third shutout of the season.

“I think any shutout for a goalie on the road for a team he used to play on probably means a little bit more,” Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said.

Boston improved to 18-12-4.

Colby Cave (first career NHL goal), Joakim Nordstrom, David Krejci, and Brad Marchand scored for the Bruins.

“It feels really good, especially in a winning effort,” Cave said. “I thought we played an unreal game as a team tonight. You know, we rolled four lines, all three (defense) pairings were playing good, and (Halak) was a brick wall back there, so that’s a recipe for success.”

Carey Price made 31 saves in the loss; he had been 5-0-0 in his previous six starts.

The Habs are scoreless on the power play for the month of December in 25 chances.

“I just think we just need to shoot the puck,” Price said. “And when things go wrong, it just seems like it’s a pretty simple recipe that everybody comes up with, just get the puck towards the net and just jam it in.”

He is still on 299 career NHL wins.

“He’ll get his 300th win, it’s more about the team winning games here,” Shea Weber said. “Obviously, he’s going to win. He held us in there tonight. There’s no excuse for that. We’re letting each other down, it’s not just him. So guys have to look at each other and know that we all have to be better for each other.”
