In Boston Monday night, David Krejci scored with 38 seconds left in regulation to tie the Montreal Canadiens at 2-2.
The goal came on the power play and seemed to energize the Bruins.
“Just try to shoot, you know, you always practice that in practices,” Krejci said. “But it doesn’t happen if [Jake DeBrusk] doesn’t do a good job screening the goalie. So obviously a big goal for us, and I think we had the momentum on our side. We just couldn’t get it done.”
But the Habs replied when Jeff Petry scored just 15 seconds into the extra session for a 3-2 win.
Carey Price made 41 saves for the win as the Habs moved to 25-17-5.
“I think the biggest thing for me is I think we’ve minimized the glaring mistakes and the turnovers and the sloppy decisions which, you know, crept in our game every once in a while,” Canadiens coach Claude Julien said. “There were decision-making things that ended up costing us at times, so we’re a lot better.”
Brendan Gallagher and Paul Byron scored (shorthanded) in regulation for Montreal.
Brad Marchand had the Bruins other goal in regulation.
“Well clearly right now it [stinks], especially when it happens that quick,” Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy said. “It’s a pretty straight-forward rush. We folded instead of challenging the puck carrier, so that started a domino effect and we lost coverage in front.”

Tuukka Rask made 19 saves in the loss.
The Bruins have yielded 10 shorthanded goals this season.
“We’re just kind of roaming a little bit right now on the PP; we’ve got to be a little more structured. If we do that, then we’ll get more pucks back and we’ll be in a little better position defensively,” Marchand said. “But it definitely comes out of respect and we have to play both ends of the rink. When we don’t have it on the PP, we’ve got to make sure that we’re in position to get it back and make sure that we don’t give up opportunities.”
