STOCKTON, Calif. – The Stockton Heat (4-2-0-0) chalked up another win tonight against the San Diego Gulls (2-3-0-0) in a 6-3 win on home ice. Andrew Mangiapane became only the third Heat player to score an assist in six consecutive games.
“I have to give credit to my teammates and line mates for scoring the goals and they have been open and we have just been working together and playing as a team and it has been going my way right now.” Said Mangiapane about his assist-streak.

The Heat played well in this game, as they out shot the Gulls 40-29. Goals from Morgan Klimchuk and Garnet Hathaway in the first period were each followed by a pair of goals off the stick of Spencer Abbott, keeping the score tied at two-apiece at the first intermission.
Cody Goloubef scored his first goal of the season on a great slapshot from the circle to give the heat the go-ahead goal. Tyler Wotherspoons shot just under a minute later would be the game winner. A mid-period goal from Jacob Larsson, his first of the season as well, would not be enough.

The third period, goals from Marek Hrivik and an empty net goal from Hathaway would bring the Heat to the 6-3 game final.
Jon Gillies earned the win in the net for Stockton, while Leland Irving gets the loss with 34 saves.
After last night’s game, where special teams were the main story, this time, there were slightly fewer penalties, but the extra man advantage only helped with one of Abbotts goals in the first period.

“Five-on-five, we were pleased with our weekend. There were a lot of different guys that contributed, and it is nice to see guys get on the score sheet and feel good about themselves,” said Coach Huska. “We have to shore up our special teams, our power play in particular.”

These two teams will face each other again on Wednesday night, after they both travel to southern California. Stockton will continue their three game road trip when they take on the Bakersfield Condors for their first time this season in back to back games.
