The Gulls opened a season-long five-game homestand with a 4-3 win over the Colorado Eagles in front of a sellout crowd (12,920) at Valley View Casino Center.
Ben Thomson scored his third goal of the season at the 5:07 mark of the second period to open the scoring. Simon Benoit tallied the lone assist, his fourth this season.
Sam Carrick scored his team-leading sixth goal at 8:26 of the second period. Carrick also added an assist and now co-leads San Diego with 11 points (6-5=11).
Giovanni Fiore earned an assist on Carrick’s goal, his second in as many games (1-2=3).
Troy Terry netted his fourth goal of the season at the 6:37 mark of the third period. The goal extended his club record point streak to begin an AHL career to seven games (4-6=10). Terry’s seven-game point streak is the longest point streak by an AHL rookie this season.
Kalle Kossila tallied the primary assist on Terry’s goal, his fifth point in as many games this season (3-2=5). Jaycob Megna also earned an assist on Terry’s goal, his second in as many games (0-2=2).
Chase De Leo scored the game-winning goal (GWG) at 14:22 of the third period, his third tally and sixth point of the season (3-3=6).
Kevin Boyle stopped 26-of-29 shots en route to his second win of the season.
