Gulls buzz Moose

The Gulls continued a three-game road trip with a 4-1 win over the Manitoba Moose at Bell MTS Place. San Diego earned their first-ever win outside of the U.S. and improved to 8-2-1-0 against the Central Division this season (26-8-3-0 all-time).

San Diego has not allowed a power play goal for 22 straight periods dating to the third period on Feb. 23.

Jake Dotchin scored two goals for his first AHL multi-goal game, including his second career shorthanded goal. Dotchin opened the scoring at 14:03 of the first period and at 17:30 of the third period (shorthanded) to extend his goal streak to a career high three games (4-0=4). Dotchin’s three-game goal streak dates to Jan. 19 following a 19-game absence. He also tied a career high for points in consecutive games, matching a three-game point streak with Syracuse from Mar. 11-13, 2016 (1-2=3).

Ben Thomson doubled the lead 35 seconds later with his fourth goal and 13th point. Adam Cracknell tallied the lone assists to mark his 11th point (5-6=11) his last 10 games and 21st (11-10=21) his last 17 contests.

Kiefer Sherwood netted his fifth goal and second in as many games at 18:40 of the first period to tie a season high for the Gulls with three goals in the first period (five times, last: Feb. 20 vs. Tucson). Sherwood has tallied 4-7=11 points his last 13 games. Simon Benoit earned his 12th assist while Chase De Leo picked up his team-leading 28th helper. De Leo has earned 17 points (8-10=18) his last 18 games with a +14 rating.

Sam Carrick earned the primary assist on Dotchin’s first goal, his team-leading 52nd point (27-25=52), while Kevin Roy earned his fifth point. Patrick Sieloff earned his first point (assist) as a Gull on Dotchin’s shorthanded tally.

Kevin Boyle stopped 38-of-39 shots to earn his 21st victory of the season. Boyle improved to 16-4-1 his last 21 games.
