BRACKNELL, UK – A Boxing Day match with the Guilford Flames did not end well for the Bees in a 4-2 decision in the Flames’ favor.
A starter by Ben Campbell in the 1st period and a late empty netter with time winding down book ended Flames strikes in each of the 2nd and 3rd periods to help the visitors hold a lead for most of the evening during a 4-2 win at Bracknell.
Campbell opened the post-Christmas scoring account when he set the Flames to a 12th minute 1-0 margin they maintained through 20 minutes.
That line held up until late in the middle frame when Olegs Lascenko briefly tied it for the Bees at 38:38, but Danny Meyers replied seconds later to re-store the 1 goal advantage ahead of the 3rd.
Marek Maslonka created some much needed insurance when he secured the eventual winner a little under 8 minutes from time just ahead of an ensuing Harvey Stead reply that pulled the difference to a single.
With the Bees up a pair of skaters in the last 90+ seconds thanks to an empty net and a Flames penalty, Campbell salted the game away with he found the gaping cage 28 seconds from close.
