Guildford score late to top Storm

In the home leg of the Christmas double against Manchester Storm, Taz Burman made 28 saves and 3rd period goals by Travis Brown and Jack Jacome lifted Spectrum’s tenants to a come from behind 3-2 win on home ice.

Burman made 14 1st period stops against 9 on Drew DeRidder on Manchester’s goal as part of a scoreless opening frame between the sides.

Nick Welsh opened the scoring for Storm near the midway mark.  Flames squared it through Ethan Strang at 36:43 but the visitors went to break ahead thanks to a Harrison Caines marker just 62 seconds after that.

A late 2nd period, short lived, 5 on 3 situation started the 3rd with Flames holding the advantage but Storm killed off the 2 man differential then the longer single skater difference to keep their lead intact.  With time getting short it looked like an equalizer may never come, but Travis Brown’s 1st of the regular season knotted it at 2 each at 54:05 and Jacome had the winner less than 2 minutes from time.

Burman turned away 28 of 30 shots while De-Ridder was 39 for 42.
