After spotting Nottingham Panthers a 2 goal advantage in the opening set, Flames on home ice replied to level and eventually take a lead they would not give up on the way to a 5-4 win.
During a mid period powerplay David Noel set Panthers to a lead. A few minutes later a goal by Ross Armour that was initially waived off went for a coach’s video review and the call was overturned to double the visitor’s advantage. However, Flames cut into the deficit at 15:22 when Cole Ully opened the home account.
Early in the 2nd, Ethan Strang brought the game level. A Matt Alfaro goal at 34:51 looked like Panthers may take an edge to the 3rd, but Josh Waller put that plan to rest when he squared it only 19 seconds from period time.
Flames took their first lead of the evening just over 2 minutes from re-start thanks to Nick Seitz.  Alfaro’s 2nd of the night just over 12 minutes from close made it 4 apiece, but inside the last 4 minutes Strang’s 2nd on a powerplay was the decider that secured the points for Spectrum’s men.
Justin Fazio made 26Â saves on 30Â shots against Kevin Carr who was 19 for 24.
