A couple of opening period goals helped Flames to a 2 goal lead and they remained just ahead of a persistent reply the rest of the night during an eventual 4-3 home win over Dundee Stars.
A 4th minute Charlie Curti goal followed by Tyler Preziuso’s first at Spectrum at 12:39 had hosts 2 goals to the good at the break.
Just 50 seconds after re-start, Matt Boudens cut the visitor’s deficit in half ahead of a Tyler Busch reply around the midway mark that re-stored the 2 goal difference. Drydn Dow made it a single goal affair once again at 32:47. Ethan Strang just 13 seconds later had Flames up a pair for a third time, but once again Stars were just a goal off the pace thanks to Dow’s 2nd of the evening on a late period powerplay.
Unfortunately, for the visitors, a scoreless final set ensured Flames would retain the lead through the end of time to secure the regulation win.
Justin Fazio made 29 saves on 32 shots while Emil Kruse was 30 for 34.
