Erik Gudbranson signed a four-year, $16 million contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets. The contract has an average annual value of ($4 million).
The 30-year-old defenseman (6-foot-5, 222 pounds) had 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) in 78 regular-season games for the Calgary Flames last season and one assist in 12 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
“Adding experience, size and toughness to our blueline was a priority for us this summer and Erik Gudbranson fits that bill perfectly,” general manager Jarmo Kekalainen. “He also has tremendous character and will be a great addition to our leadership group. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Erik, his wife, Sarah, and son, Bennett, to the Blue Jackets family.”
