Growlers rock Railers, 5-2

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Newfoundland Growlers finished their roadtrip on a positive note in a 5-2 win over the  Worcester Railers on Saturday night at DCU Center.

Todd Skirving opened the scoring with three minutes left in the 1st as he one-time home from close range to give the Growlers a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes.

Noah Delmas and Brent Beaudoin struck within two minutes for the Railers midway through the second period to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.

Chris Martenet replied for Newfoundland with four minutes left in the 2nd with a seeing eye shot through traffic to make it 2-2 after 40 minutes.

Skirving added a second on the night two minutes into the third to give the Growlers a 3-2 lead.

Keenan Suthers scored a pair of insurance markers for Newfoundland including an empty netter to secure the 5-2 road victory.

Newfoundland enjoy a five-day break before hosting the Reading Royals at Mary Brown’s Centre next Friday night.
