WORCESTER, Mass. – The Newfoundland Growlers nabbed their fourth straight victory against the same opposition and their sixth in a row overall in a 3-2 win over the Worcester Railers on Friday night at DCU Center.
Keenan Suthers opened the scoring with 3:43 left in the first period as he banged home a loose puck in tight before Nolan Walker scored in similar fashion just 28 seconds before the 1st intermission to give Newfoundland a 2-0 lead after 20 minutes.
Todd Skirving made it 3-0 less than three minutes into the middle frame with a snipe over the blocker of Ken Appleby.
Brent Beaudoin got Worcester on the board with under four minutes left in the 2nd as he shovelled home a rebound to cut it to 3-1 Growlers going into the third period.
Bobby Butler tapped home at the back door with 1:21 remaining in regulation but the Railers comeback bid would fall short as the Growlers held on for a 3-2 road win.
Newfoundland go to Adirondack to face the Thunder on Saturday night at 8:30 pm.
