Trois-Rivières, Quebec – The Newfoundland Growlers made it three straight road victories thanks to a 3-1 win over the Trois-Rivières Lions on Friday night at Colisèe Vidèotron.
Brennan Kapcheck picked up where he left off on Wednesday as he opened the scoring just three minutes into this one to make it 1-0 Newfoundland early.
Brandon Kruse doubled the Growlers lead with six minutes left in the opening period as he finished off a great feed from Michael Joyaux to put Newfoundland up 2-0 after 20 minutes.
Neither side found a breakthrough in a penalty filled second period as Newfoundland retained their 2-0 lead heading into the final 20 minutes of play.
Adam Dawe made it 3-0 Newfoundland four minutes into the third with a sneaky five hole finish straight out of the penalty box.
Anthony Beauregard got the Lions on the board with 10:11 left in regulation to cut the Growlers lead to 3-1.
Trois-Rivières would get no closer thanks to some stellar goaltending from Luke Cavallin down the stretch as he helped Newfoundland hold on for a 3-1 victory.
