CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Newfoundland Growlers picked up another victory down in Ohio as they topped the Cincinnati Cyclones 2-1 on Friday night at Heritage Bank Center.
Jack Badini opened the scoring two minutes into the second period with a short side finish on a partial breakaway to make it 1-0 Newfoundland.
Zack Andrusiak tied things up just over 10 minutes later with a one-timed blast on a Cyclones powerplay to bring it to 1-1 going into the third period.
Todd Skirving found the breakthrough goal for Newfoundland with 4:30 left in regulation as he tipped one home atop the blue paint on the powerplay to give the Growlers a 2-1 lead.
Despite being outshot 18-7 in the 3rd period, Dryden McKay and the Growlers would hold on for a gritty 2-1 road win.
