Growlers grab game one over Royals with 3-0 shutout win

READING, Pa. – The Newfoundland Growlers took game one of the North Division Final with a 3-0 road win over the Reading Royals on Saturday night at Santander Arena.

Keenan Suthers opened the scoring just 3:34 into the game as he finished a great feed from Isaac Johnson to give Newfoundland a 1-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

Neither team would find the back of the net in the middle frame as the Growlers held onto their 1-0 advantage heading into the third period.

Isaac Johnson provided an insurance marker for the Growlers as he beat four Royals including goaltender Pat Nagle to make it 2-0 Newfoundland with 16:49 left to go.

Orrin Centazzo sealed it with a late empty netter while Dryden McKay stopped all 30 shots he faced for the shutout in a 3-0 Newfoundland victory.

Game Two goes tomorrow afternoon at Santander Arena (4:30pm NL time)
