ST. JOHN’S, NL – The Newfoundland Growlers made it back-to-back victories to start the weekend with a 4-1 win over the Norfolk Admirals on Saturday night at Mary Brown’s Centre.
Ryan Foss made a strong first period for the Admirals count with 3:07 left in the opening 20 minutes as he deposited into a yawning Newfoundland cage following a scrum in the Growlers crease to put Norfolk ahead 1-0 after the 1st.
Michael Joyaux replied for the Growlers with five minutes left in the middle frame with a seeing eye shot from the point on the man advantage to level things up at 1-1 after two periods of play.
Todd Skirving gave Newfoundland their first lead of the game just over a minute into the third with a snipe off the rush to make it 2-1 Growlers with 18:45 left in the game.
Orrin Centazzo and Brandon Kruse added late insurance markers in the closing moments to secure the 4-1 win for Newfoundland.
