WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Periods one and two of the fourth game of the Western Conference Quarter Finals series looked much like the previous three, with the Eagles and Grizzlies playing a fairly even game destined to be a closely fought contest. But period three did not follow the script, as a one goal differential to start the period ballooned to an ugly 7-2Â drubbing of the visitors after the final twenty minutes.
Utah’s Phil Pietroniro started the scoring early with a Power Play goal  resulting from a Kyle Kraemer tripping penalty  beating Eagles net minder Kris Lazaruk from the front of the crease for a one to nothing lead.
Late in the first stanza Colorado’s Everitt Sheen evened the score with his first goal of the playoffs at 17:19.
Another quick  strike goal from  Charles Sarault in the second period gave the Grizzlies a two to one lead. Later in the period Eagles Captain, Trent Daavvettiila scored on the Power Play after  Pietriniro was called for hooking tying  the game at two apiece. Some pretty passing by Barry Almeida to set up Ryan Hayes for the goal, that would become the game winner, to put the Grizzlies on top three to two at the end of the middle frame.
Looking to avoid a tied series the Grizzlies came out blazing in the third period and scored two goals before than four minutes had been played. The first at 1:38 when Utah got a gift goal as Lazaruk lifted his glove to secure a puck that managed to drop out and land  between his pads for a quick tap in by C.J. Eick. Sarault scored his second goal of the game on a Power Play chance from the right circle at 3:59 putting the Grizzlies up five to two.
Colorado had a power play chance at 6:20  but were unable to take advantage with  the extra skater.
At the 11:47 mark of the third period Alex Krushelnyski scored on a breakaway to put the home team up six to two which started the  sending a message portion of the game by the Colorado Eagles. Unfortunately Johnny Lazlo, newly returned to the lineup, was caught in the crossfire and limped off the ice late in the game inciting Darryl Bootland to attempt some retribution for the injury to the Eagles skilled forward.
To wrap up the third period onslaught by the Grizzlies, Sarault  was able to finish off his hattrick to the delight of the homecrowd with the final score an ugly seven to two loss for the visiting Eagles.
Game five will be played Sunday April 24 2016 at the Maverik Center at 4:05 P.M.
