Grizzlies sweep Aces with 3-2 win

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – The Utah Grizzlies (6-3-1-0) scored three in the third period to erase a 2-0 deficit and beat the Alaska Aces 3-2 Saturday night at Sullivan Arena.

The win gives Utah the three-game series sweep in Anchorage as they won 4-2 Wednesday and 4-1 Friday.

“We didn’t play our best hockey through two periods, but we found a way to win in the third,” said Head Coach/General Manager Tim Branham.

Charles Sarault (3) hammered in a rebound with 1:03 remaining to give Utah their first lead of the night. Jason Binkley picked up the assist as he blasted in a shot that was initially saved as the Grizzlies won a face-off following an Alaska icing.

The Grizzlies tied the game at 2 with 6:29 left in regulation as Josh MacDonald (4) took a backdoor pass from Alex Krushelnyski. Connor Hardowa also picked up an assist.

Utah entered the third period down 2-0, but quickly got on the board 54 seconds into the frame as Alex Krushelnyski hammered in a loose puck with Ryan Walters and Corey Fienhage drawing assists.

Utah goaltender Ryan Faragher improved to 6-0 by stopping 34 of 36 shots in the contest.

Alaska tallied one in the first and one in the second to build the 2-0 lead.
