Shayne Gostisbehere was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes by the Arizona Coyotes on Wednesday for a third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Gostisbehere is in the final season of a six-year contract he signed with the Philadelphia Flyers on June 9, 2017, and can become an unrestricted free agent after the season.
The 29-year-old defenseman has 31 points (10 goals, 21 assists) in 52 games this season. He missed eight games with an upper-body injury from Jan. 26-Feb. 18.
“Shayne is a smooth-skating, puck-moving defenseman,” Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said. “We think his offensive skill set and veteran presence will help bolster our blueline.”
