Gophers find offense In sweep of Northeastern

After scoring one goal in their first three games, the Minnesota Golden Gophers freshmen took over. Rookie goalie Eric Schierhorn made 23 saves for his first career win in a 4-0 shutout of Northeastern. Fellow freshmen Tommy Novak and Tyler Sheehy scored their first goals, as did sophomore defenseman Jack Glover, in a three-goal first period.

On Saturday night, Schierhorn was again staked to a 3-goal first period, but then the Golden Gophers had to hang on for a 4-3 win. Hudson Fasching scored 59 seconds into the contest from Michael Brodzinski and Leon Bristedt — each of whom scored 17 seconds apart less than three minutes later. Fasching scored his second late in the first for a 4-1 lead. The Huskies scored two in the second period before Schierhorn shut the door.Big 10 logo
