In Las Vegas, the Golden Knights scored twice in each period on Thursday enroute to a 6-1 win over the visiting Nashville Predators
Evgenii Dadonov scored once and kicked in two assists in the win.
“I would say it’s been a stressful couple of days,” Dadonov said. “It’s nothing like I could do. I was just waiting on a decision.”
Dadonov was to have been traded to Anaheim at the deadline on Monday.
“How he handled the situation, how [the fans] handled the situation, couldn’t have been done better,” Golden Knights coach Peter DeBoer said. “We needed him out there tonight. He was a big help for us.”
Chandler Stephenson also had a goal and two assists in the win.
The Golden Knights moved to 35-28-4.
“We needed [a win like this],” DeBoer said. “We hadn’t scored in two games, so everybody feels good scoring six goals. We got goals all kinds of ways. Goal-scoring is a confidence thing. We couldn’t have been lower coming out of Winnipeg.”
Logan Thompson made 34 saves in the win for Vegas.
“We were attacking a bit more inside the dots and recovering the puck,” Vegas’ Jonathan Marchessault said. “I think when you do that, that’s how you build a successful powerplay. To be honest, everybody was shooting it well. Just winning your battles in the corner. We were prepared and also pre-scouted what Nashville was going to give us. We answered well tonight.”
Mattias Janmark and Nicolas Roy scored in the first period for a 2-0 lead to Vegas.
“It’s nice [to score],” Roy said. “Going into my third season, I’m trying to be more offensive as well. I was able to do that. I’m just trying to help the team offensively.”
Jack Eichel and Dadonov scored in the second period around a goal from Filip Forsberg.
“It wasn’t close to our best,” Nashville coach John Hynes said. “We’ve got to get home. We’ve got to regroup. We’ve got to rectify and get to the game that gives us the best chance to win.”
Stephenson and Alex Pietrangelo scored in the third frame for the 6-1 final score.
The Predators dropped to 37-24-4.
Juuse Saros made 44 saves in the Nashville loss.
