LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Las Vegas Golden Knights pulled off another win against the Winnipeg Jets to take a commanding lead in the series with a final score of 3-2.
The Golden Knights’ William Karlsson scored only 2:25 into the first period during a power play, to give them the 1-0 lead. Jonathan Marchessault passed the puck across the ice to Karlsson for the one-timer from the bottom of the circle. Reilly Smith was also credited on the play. That would be the only goal for the period, as the teams left the ice for the first intermission.
Patrik Laine finally found a way to score, also on a power play, when his shot to the net beat Marc-Andre Fleury just under the arm to the back of the net at the 9:29 mark of the second period for the equalizer. Less than 45 seconds later, Tomas Nosek took the puck around the back of the net, and beat Connor Hellebuyck in the net to put Las Vegas back in the lead.
Tyler Myers evened the score in the third period, when his quick shot from the circle whizzed under Fleury so fast the officials had to look at the replay to make the goal determination. Reilly Smith gave the Golden Knights the go-ahead, and ultimate game winning goal with just under seven minutes remaining when his slap shot went top-shelf from the short side for the unassisted goal.
Both goaltenders were incredible in the net throughout the game making saves that appeared to be unstoppable. Fleury earned the win with 35 saves for the night, while Hellebuyck had 26.
Las Vegas leads the series 3-1 and have a chance to finish the Jets as both teams head back to Winnipeg for game four on Sunday.
