In Anaheim on Tuesday night, John Gibson made 34 stops as he picked up his fourth shutout of the season in a 2-0 Ducks win over the visiting Dallas Stars.
Jakob Silfverberg scored a power play goal late in the second period to give the Ducks
a 1-0 lead; he also had an assist on the night.
“Tonight, he was a player possessed,” Ducks head coach Randy Carlyle said. “He had the puck and nobody could get it away from him. Some of the plays he made, the way he worked the puck in the offensive zone, specifically from the blue line in.”
The assist came on a goal from Andrew Cogliano in the early minutes of the third period.
“He’s on another level right now. I’ve always thought he was one of the most underrated in the League,” Cogliano said of Silfverberg:
Anaheim improved 22-13-8 with the win.
“[The Andrew Cogliano-Ryan Kesler-Jakob Silfverberg line is] the model which we would like our younger players to pattern themselves after and do the simple things, get inside, grind teams. Be good on the defensive side of it, and when you get an opportunity, collect offense points,” Carlyle said of the Ducks line.

Antti Niemi took the loss on 36 saves as the Stars dropped back to 17-17-8.
“I like the way our team worked. Our team worked hard. Last night (against the Kings) was a tough hockey game, a very physical hockey game. I thought we played a smart first period,” Ruff said after the loss.
