Belfast Giants almost blew a 5-1 lead but survived to beat Dundee Stars 7-4 on Wednesday night at the Dundee Ice Arena.

Carter Hamill opened the scoring with the lone goal of the first period at 06:39, finding space in the high slot to fire a quick wrist shot past Emil Kruse.
Bo Hanson doubled the Giants’ lead just thirty five seconds into the second period, firing a shot from the right circle after a scramble in front of the Stars’ net.
Gabe Bast made it 3-0 at 29:33, capitalising on a defensive breakdown by the Stars and sending a wrist shot past Kruse.
The Stars responded just ten seconds later at 29:43 through Drydn Dow, who beat Alexis Gravel with a backhand in close to make it 3-1.
Bo Hanson blasted a one-timer past Kruse at 33:23 for his second goal of the night, before Ben Lake made it 5-1 thirty four seconds later with a wrist shot from the left circle.
A slashing call against Carter Hamill proved costly for the visitors, as Drydn Dow scored his second of the night at 38:51 on the ensuing power play to make it 5-2 heading into the third period.
Morton Jurgens made it 5-3 early in the third period, redirecting a slap shot from Justin Bean past Gravel at 43:52.
Drydn Dow completed his hat trick and made it a one-goal game at 50:28, picking up a pass from Morton Jurgens and backhanding it past Gravel.
A giveaway in the Stars’ zone led to Jordan Kawaguchi finding himself alone in the high slot, where he made no mistake and beat Kruse with a wrist shot to make it 6-4 at 55:17.
David Goodwin added a seventh goal late, picking up a feed from behind the net by JJ Piccinich and firing the puck into a wide empty net at 56:44.
