Aspray Glasgow West sponsored Glasgow Clan were handed a tough pill to swallow after a comeback win for the Belfast Giants.
Mike Pelech came close to scoring early on as he rebounded a Darien Craighead shot at the backdoor but his effort was kept out by the post.
The Clan later went on the powerplay which saw Daniel Tedesco break in all alone on Antti Karjalainen after a defensive lapse, but the Finnish goaltender managed to block the shot.
Luke Lynch gave the hosts the lead on the same powerplay when he sent a first time shot past Giants goalie Tyler Beskorowany after some nice tape-to-tape passing across Belfast’s zone.
Pelech bagged a goal for himself shortly after as he stabbed a loose puck in the crease into the net while in mid-air due to a trip from a Giants players’ stick.
The Clan’s #17 then doubled his scoring tally and put the hosts ahead by three as he and Craighead were amidst a scramble in the crease before Pelech managed to push it over the line.
Henrik Eriksson put Belfast on the boards before the end of the period as he slammed a shot from the hash marks into the roof of the Clan net.
In the second period, the Giants took control of the game and made an impressive comeback to flip the scoreline.
David Goodwin got them started off with a breakaway goal before Ciaran Long tied the game with a long-range slapshot.
Matthew McLeod gave the visitors the lead late in the period as he tidily sent the puck around Karjalainen and into the top corner from close range.
Matt Barry levelled the scoring for the Clan in the third period as he arrived late to a goal-mouth scramble and lashed the puck into the roof of the net.
The Giants quickly took a two-goal lead not long after though as Blake Speers and David Goodwin both scored late in the game.
Clan captain, Dyson Stevenson halved the deficit, but the celebrations were short lived as the Giants scored an empty netter through Long before Tedesco wrapped the game up with an eighth Belfast goal.
