In a game that the Calgary Flames needed, Ryan Getzlaf spoiled the strong effort from the visitors when potted a power play goal with under five minutes left in regulation
Saturday to give the Anaheim Ducks a 2-0 series lead.
The goal sent the Flames to a 3-2 loss after they had rallied from a 2-0 deficit.
The loss was the 29th straight for the Flames in Anaheim.
“We played good,” Anaheim forward Rickard Rakell said. “I thought we deserved that bounce.”
John Gibson made 35 saves to get the Game 2 win.
Mikael Backlund scored shorthanded late in the first period to cut the Flames deficit to 2-1.
Sean Monahan tied at the game 2-2 early in the middle frame.
“We can’t quit,” Calgary’s Dougie Hamilton said. “We haven’t quit all season. We’re going to go back home and turn the series around.”
Game 3 in Monday in Calgary where the Flames are going to be buoyed by the home crowd but also pressured to get a win and get back to Anaheim.

Brian Elliott made 26 saves in taking the loss.
“We did a lot of good things, had a lot of good chances. We have to build off that,” the Flames’ Kris Versteeg said.
