Getzlaf breaks drought in Ducks win over Sharks

In San Jose Saturday, Ryan Getzlaf finally found the back of the net in a 3-2 Anaheim Ducks win over the San Jose Sharks.

“It feels good. We got to feel good about ourselves, and try and carry that over, remember that feeling, remember the work that went into it,” Getzlaf said after breaking a 15-game goal drought.Anaheim Ducks

Ryan Garbutt and Rickard Rakell also scored for the Ducks in the road win.

Garbutt’s goal tied the game 1-1 but was contested as goalie interference by Toronto and then Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer.  But the goal was ruled a good goal.

“Obviously, it gave us some life,” Ducks coach Randy Carlyle said. “It was a 1-0 game. They scored first on the power play, and this is a tough building to come into and get control of. I’m not saying we got control of the game, but we played our game. They took their swings at us, and we took what they gave, and then we went at them ourselves.”

Jonathan Bernier made 21 saves in the win.

Corey Perry remains in a goal drought but did kick in with two assists on the night.

Logan Couture and Dylan DeMelo scored for the Sharks.

“We had some chances,” Couture said. “They shut it down pretty good.”

Martin Jones made 23 saves in the loss.

“There was some good stuff that happened. But you have to give them credit; they found a way. I thought that was a winnable game for us, and we just didn’t get it done,” Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer said.
