After falling in the opening game of the competition to Sweden on Thursday, Germany bounced back thanks to a herculean effort from Boston Fleet forward Laura Kluge, who registered a goal and three helpers. The performance put her tied for first in tournament scoring at the time of writing.
A three-goal first period from the Germans put the game out of reach early, and despite two goals from Japan late in the second period, the result was already out of hand. Kluge finished the outing with an outstanding plus-five rating as Germany finds itself in second place in Group B after two games played.
Germany will look to build on the strong performance on Monday at 10:40 a.m. ET against bottom-of-the-table France.
