HAMILTON—Stoney Creek Generals scored at least twice each in each period en route to their 7-2 Allan Cup Hockey victory over the Hamilton Steelhawks in the Dave Andreychuk Mountain Arena Friday night.
In other action in Dundas, the Whitby Dunlops edged the Dundas Real McCoys 2-1 in the Harry Howell Arena. The two clubs were scheduled to play each other Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in Whitby Iroquois Sports Complex.
At Hamilton, the Generals outshot Hamilton 38-37 to earn the victory as Joshua Soares scored twice and set up two more goals for the Creek. Nathan Pageau and Justin Donati added a goal and assist each with Chris Hulit, Igor Gongalsky, and Martin Lee scoring once each. Deron Cousens assisted on two scoring plays. Paul Zanette and Bryan Cameron replied for the Steelhawks with single goals.
Hamilton and Stoney Creek meet again on Thursday, January 31st at 8:30 p.m. in Stoney Creek’s Gateway Ice Centre. The following night the Steelhawks play the Real McCoys at home at 7:30 p.m. in the Andreychuk Mountain Arena.
