QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Losing Saturday night against the Blainville-Boisbriand, Gatineau came back in front of their fans with a 3-1 win against the Quebec Remparts. Yakov Trenon with two goals and Vitalii Abramov with two assists led Olympiques offence on Saturday afternoon.
Gatineau opened the scoring with only 1:01 into the first period. After Alex Breton first shot missed the net, Olympiques Abramov took the puck behind Quebec net making quick pass to Tr
enin beating Quebec goalie Evgeny Kiselev on his left side with a wrist shot.
Seeing his team dominated 9-1 in shots on goal wanting to change the tempo of the game, Yanick Turcotte dropped his gloves against Dylan Gallahan of Gatineau. While Quebec left winger got the advantage over his opponent at the end of the fight, Gatineau still ended the first period leading 1-0 and 18-7 in shots on goal department. First Quebec shot against Gatineau goaltender Mark Gramebauer came at 14:02.
Unable to add to their lead in middle frame the home team continued their domination with 13 shots against three but Kiselev kept his team in the game making 30 saves on Gatineau 31 shots after forty minutes of play.
Quebec was 0-in-6 with man advantage after two periods of play the Olympiques was 0-in-3. The visitor got a five-on-three power play for 47 seconds in second period but was unable to get a puck behind Olympique netminder.
Quebec tied the game with 17:27 remaining in the third period. Driving to the net Quebec center Auguste Impose redirect the pass from defenseman Aaron Dutra.
Successfully killed a five-on-three for 57 seconds following a penalty to defenseman Aaron Dutra with Olivier Garneau already in the box for Quebec, Gatineau regained the lead on the five-on-four with Dutra still in the box. Trenin with his second goal of the game deflected Abramov shot to Quebec goalie left side with 13:03 left in third period.
The insurance goal came from the stick of Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau as his wrist shot beat Quebec goalie high on his left side with 1:24 remaining to the game.
For Quebec it was their seventh consecutive loss.
Quebec will come back home hosting the Sherbrooke Phoenix Friday January 29.
