QUEBEC CITY, P.Q. — Winning the first two games of their series by narrow margins, Gatineau came to Quebec hoping to do their best to win in Quebec even if they won only once in last five years in Quebec. Scoring three goals inside first five minutes of the game Gatineau was really opportunistic scoring on almost every chance they got. The Olympiques won game three 9-3. Gabbryel Paquin-Boudreau with three goal 1 assist, Vitalii Abramov two goals and one assist and Austin Eastman with a goal and two  assists led the visitor offensively in Quebec.

“First of all every game is different we can’t compared one game to the other,” answered Gatineau head coach Benoit Groulx near his team locker room.

“Tonight we got the occasion to be real opportunistic, we have had real good beginning of the game, we led 3-0 after five minutes of play, it was the kind of start we look for, it gave us momentum, and it was what we want to do.”

“Like I said after the second game we played better, when you look the game tonight we have had real good first period, in second with the score, we missed some seriousness in our play and in third we did things properly like we use to say and I’m very happy.” Ended the Olympiques head coach Proulx.

Gatineau began game three of their first round series leading by the Olympiques 2-0 on stronger note, scoring three goals in first five minutes.

Making first save on Alex Dostie first shot, Vitalii Abramov takes rebound beating Quebec goaltender Evgeny Kiselev 1:22 into first period.

Already getting a pass on Olympiques first goal Dostie scores Gatineau second goal taking the rebound shot from Alexandre Alain with 15:50 remaining.

Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau scored the visitor’s third goal 49 seconds later, his first of two goals in the initial period, beating Quebec goalie Kiselev under right arm at 4:49.

Trying to wake his team, Quebec left winger dropped his glove winning his fight against Gatineau Dylan Callaghan.

Quebec scored their only goal of first period as young Louis-Filip Cote beat Olympiques goaltender Mathieu Bellemare on his left side with 12:51 left to play in the initial period.

Gatineau came back regaining their three-goal lead and adding another goal leading the game 5-1 after first twenty minutes of the game. Abramov with his second goal of the game took the rebound leaving no chance to Quebec netminder with a one-timer at 13:45.

Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau also with his second of the game complete the scoring in the first period. Leaving the penalty box Alexandre Alain made perfect pass to Olympiques left winger scoring his second of the series with 1:49 left in the initial period.

Victim of five goals on 11 shots in first period Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher decide to send young goaltender Samuel Cardinal to begin the second period replacing Evgeny Kiselev.

Great pressure in offensive zone led to Quebec second goal. Left alone in the slot Quebec center Olivier Garneau got a pass from behind the net by Yanick Turcotte. Garneau’s goal his first of the playoff came at 3:27.

Gatineau came back 1:29 later with Olympiques left winger Austin Eastman goal his first of the series and the playoff. Eestman precise shot beat Quebec netminder Samuel Cardinal high on right side at 4:56.

Gatineau defenseman Guillaume McSween made the score 7-2 with his first of the playoff as his shot from the blue line beat Quebec goalie Cardinal at 8:19. Winning face off Yan Pavel Laplante scored his first of the series at 14:02.

Allowing three goals on seven shots the young netminder Samuel Cardinal came back on the bench as Quebec head coach sent back his veteran netminder Kiselev between the pipes.

Quebec scored their third goal as Derek Gentile beat Gatineau netminder along right post with 2:46 remaining in middle frame.

Only one goal was scored in third period and it came from Gatineau on their only power play chances they got in the game. Been 0-in-six with a man up in the series Gatineau took advantage of their only chance they got playing five-on-four. Winning faceoff in Quebec territory, Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau one-timer shot left no chance to Kiselev with 5:34 remaining in the game.

“It is inexplicable, it can’t happened especially at home,” tried to explain Quebec Remparts captain Bronson Beaton.

“During the playoff we shouldn’t get out of our zone, we gave up couple goals on first couple shifts and it continued throughout it definitely can’t happened during the playoff. We can’t let that to happen tomorrow.” Continued the veteran center Beaton.

“I can’t explain, we prepared ourselves the same way we did in game one and two, we came out good. We got great practice yesterday, we did well this morning, it is a bit inexplicable,” Quebec head coach Philippe Boucher as his team trailed 3-0 in the first round series.

“I don’t want to relive what we lived tonight, for our 20 years old players, for our fans, for us our team we would like to show some proudness we don’t want to be eliminate tomorrow in our building. We will take it one game at the time. If we win tomorrow we won’t be eliminate and we will have won one.”

Game four of the first round series between Quebec and Gatineau will be on Wednesday night.

Seven other series were on QMJHL schedule on Tuesday night.
