WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – Although the Colorado Eagles were able to kill off all eight minutes of the four consecutive minor penalties called against them in the first nine minutes and thirty four seconds of game three of the Western Conference Quarter finals the effort put them at a decided disadvantage.
Utah out shot Colorado fifteen to two in the first period and scored the only fgoal when Eric Knodel blasted a one timer from the right circle past Eagles netminder, Clark Saunders at the 16:20 mark to take a one to nothing lead.
Period two was better for the Eagles as they were able to double the Grizzlies shots on goal ten shots to five with each team scoring once. Utah’s Marc Cantin scored short handed to take a two to nothing lead at 2:40. Eagles forward Kyle Ostrow knocked in a power play goal at the side of the net to notch his first goal of these playoffs to cut the Grizzlies lead in half.
Early in the final frame Erik Higby put the Grizzlies up three to one with Kyle Kraemer scoring minutes later but that was to be end of the scoring for either team as Utah takes the two games to one series lead by a score of three to two.
Game four will be Saturday April 23 at 7:05 P.M. MDT with Game five to be played on Sunday April 24 also at 7:05 P.M. MDT.
