INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indy Fuel snapped a six-game winless skid at home and took both halves of a home-and-home with the Quad City Mallards after a 2-1 win Sunday at Indiana Farmers Coliseum.
Indy came out firing, scoring just 3:04 into the contest when Matt White forced a turnover in the Mallards zone. The puck went to Peter Schneider who fed it back to White for his second goal of the season.
Then at 6:07 the Fuel extended its lead to 2-0 when Ben Marshall found himself alone in the right circle with plenty of time and beat Mallards goalie Steve Michalek on the stick side for the eventual game-winning goal.
Despite allowing a goal to Olivier Archambault just over two and a half minutes later, the Fuel received solid goaltending from Mac Carrith (27 saves) and went 4-for-4 on the penalty kill to prevent the Mallards from scoring again.
The Fuel now travel to Cincinnati to take on the Cyclones this Tuesday night at 7:35 pm ET. The Morellis Cleaners Pregame Show starts 15 minutes before every puck drop on CBS Sports 1430.
