Fuel end Cyclones’ home dominance with 2-1 win

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Indy Fuel (8-3-1-0) handed the Cincinnati Cyclones (8-3-1-1) their first regulation loss at home for the 2015-16 ECHL Season Friday by a 2-1 count thanks to a pair of primary assists from Matt White and 28 saves from goaltender Shane Owen.

Trailing 1-0 after a first period in which they were outshot 10-6, the Fuel came out with a vengeance to begin the second. Shot after shot was put on Cyclones goaltender Brad Thiessen (24 saves) and finally Sam Jardine broke through with his first pro goal at 12:30 from White. White’s draw win went directly back to Jardine who beat Thiessen over the right shoulder to tie the game at 1-1.

In the third period the Fuel capitalized on another clean face-off win from White as this time Ben Marshall’s point shot found its way past Thiessen for the eventual game-winning goal at 4:23.

From there Shane Owen (28 saves) was the story for the Fuel, making several point-blank saves on Cyclones players including a glove save from just in front of the goalmouth on Zach Budish with just 8.3 seconds remaining to seal the win.
