Friday night fireworks in Brandon

Connor McClennon’s second goal of the game at 2:01 of overtime gave the Winnipeg ICE a 7-6 decision over the Brandon Wheat Kings Friday night at Westoba Place.

Conor Geekie (pictured), Matthew Savoie, Ty Nash and Jonas Woo rounded out the scoring as Winnipeg improves to 37-6-1, now five points ahead of Red Deer for first place in the Eastern Conference with three games in hand.

Nolan Ritchie scored twice as Brandon earned a single point to now sit with a 19-21-7 record. Zakhar Polshakov, Dawson Pasternak, Brett Hyland and Nate Danielson had the other goals.

The Wheat Kings outshot the ICE 46-42.

Goaltender Mason Beaupit picked up the win while Carson Bjarnason suffered the OT loss.

Both teams were 2/4 on the power play.
