One week into the NHL free agency season and little has happened over the last few days. Almost certainly that is due in large part to the splurge of contracts on the first day.
But much of it too is due to the fact that most of the quality players were signed in the first days.
Since the weekend, NHL clubs have been turning their attention to signing restricted free agents especially those in their minor league systems.
One signing of note on Thursday was the New Jersey Devils penning Kyle Palmieri to a five-year deal.
Palmieri, a restricted free agent, was signed for $4.65 million annually.
“For me it just brings pure excitement,” Palmieri said on NHL.com. “Obviously I had a great time and it was a lot of fun this year. With the additions we’ve made this summer I’m really looking forward to what the future might hold for this team.”
Palmieri is a fellow alum of this writer from St Peter’s Prep in Jersey City.
