Frederick Fire Hosts 9/11 Memorial Hockey Game 9/11 Memorial game reminds us of the hallowed ground in NYC and DC and PA

FREDERICK, Md: On Sunday, September 8, the Frederick Fire hosted the Annapolis Chiefs in a 9/11 memorial game. It was the Fire coming out on top with a 13-9 victory, but the game was secondary to the real reason that they were there.

The game was a benefit for the Frederick County Professional Firefighters Benevolent Fund. There was a pre-game skate, allowing friends and family to skate with the players. Funds were raised through ticket sales, as well as silent auctions and raffles. Many community organiztions donated items for the cause. Before the game began, Captain TonyTricarico, from the New York City Fire Department, spoke to the crowd, and dropped the ceremonial puck. This was the second year for the event played at Skate Frederick.
