In this week’s edition of “how do you like me now” the Calgary Flames got goals from Elias Lindholm, Derek Ryan and Noah Hanifin on Sunday in a 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh.
All three skaters are former Hurricanes who came back to haunt their old team.
“You can’t write that,” Flames head coach Bill Peters said. “I thought all the guys that were involved in the trade had a positive impact.” Peters said. “I thought it was a [heck of a] hockey game.”
Peters is the former head coach of the Canes to complete the irony.
“That was cool,” Lindholm said. “Obviously it’s kind of weird to be back here and play on the other side of the rink, but it’s surreal that all of us scored. It’s nice, but the two points is all that mattered.”
The Flames are 9-1-1 in the4ir last 11 games.
David Rittich made 34 saves to get the win.
“Ever since I’ve been here, it seems to work that way,” Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said. “All the guys did well. It was a good game and there was a lot of excitement, but obviously we needed to win a lot more than they did.”
Teuvo Teravainen, Dougie Hamilton and Sebastian Aho scored for the Canes as they dropped to 25-21-6.
“We know where we are in the standings and we want to win every game,” Hamilton said. “It [stinks] when we lose. We talk about one day at a time and move on and keep getting better every day.”

Petr Mrazek made 28 saves in the losing effort.
“Our power play got minus-1 against us and that can’t happen. We have to execute and score goals. Those are crunch times. Instead of being 2-2, it’s 3-1 [Calgary]. It’s a tough hill to climb sometimes, especially against one of the better teams in the League,” Justin Williams said after the game.
